rosy-clown

Rosy Posy the Clown from the Santa Cruz Party Company loves to clown around!  She loves to have fun, and has lots of energy!  She also has lots of experience working with children…  She has worked with developmentally disabled children, autistic children, deaf children, and children of all ages in the public school system.  She has also worked teaching in the Special Ed classroom, and even knows some sign language!

But she wasn’t always as talented as she is now.  No, no…  She started out as a baby clown over 10 years ago, when a friend asked her to accompany them to a “clown orientation” that was listed in the newspaper.  Rosy went, and got taught 3 balloon animals ( a heart, a dog, and a sword ) and 5 very simple face paintings.  She also was given 3 magic tricks.  And that was it!  That was all the fledgling clowns were taught.  Rosy didn’t know at the time how common it was for entertainment companies to teach so little before they sent their entertainers out.  But she soon found out that, in fact, that’s how many  —  many companies work.

The last requirement for Rosy to meet was to go to a party with another clown, and to just “observe” her in action.  Well, even though that other performer was a very nice and sweet clown, all of the children at the party seemed to gravitate toward Rosy!  She was surprised, but happy.  And thus, a new clown-life was born!

Since then the young Rosy Clown has learned so many things!  She learned that the paints that all (4 in total) of the companies that she worked for way back when – known as poster paints – were not supposed to be used on precious little children’s faces!  And that the craft glitter she was given could scratch a little one’s eyes, and cause a lot of damage.  Yikes!  After learning those things, she changed to higher quality supplies immediately!

She also learned about something called a “clown convention” that was happening a few hours away.  It sounded intriguing…!

And so she packed the car and went.  It was such an adventure! An adventure that led Rosy to finding out that there was a much bigger clown world out there that she hadn’t known about at all!

Did you know that there are events held,  where hundreds of clowns from all across the country converge all in one place, all at one time?  Neither did she!  But they do!  And during that time they make friends with all of the other clowns, and also take lots of classes to learn how to be a better clown!  They learn more face paintings, balloons, magic, and comedy.  These conventions are so fun, in fact, (and informative) that Rosy Posy goes every year!

As a result, Rosy has expanded her skills by a lot!  And after seeing over and over again some of the choices that other entertainment companies were making, including the ones she was working for, Rosy decided to start her own company.  Thatway she could make a commitment to quality, and make sure that everyone who worked with her maintained her high standards.

And she has been in business ever since!  Her company has worked with schools, daycares, small businesses, and parents everywhere.  She has personally performed at over 1000 parties, and has done events for movie stars, for FAO Schwarz – the famous toy store – and even for the mayor of NY, which is where she first started her business.

She has had so much fun, that she expanded her entertainment family to include princesses and fairies – just because she loves them!  Who doesn’t love princess magic and fairy dust?!   And just like her, they are friendly, sweet, and happy souls, who love bringing joy and happiness to children everywhere.

She still sees other companies who hire college students, and sometimes even high school students, to go and entertain at events, while barely training them!  And also, of course, with their famous poster paints in tow…

But she has made sure that the company she created – Santa Cruz Clowns and Princesses – is not like that at all!  Her Clowns and Princesses strictly and only uses face paints that are formulated specifically for face and body painting, and that are FDA compliant.  Also, the glitter and sparkles that she and her performers use are always cosmetic grade – meaning that, heaven forbid, if a rogue sparkle should get into an eye, that beautiful eye will still be safe and sound.

And of course, her performers are sweet, fun, funny, and professional.
